Origin Story

We built Staticish because we were tired of the "Free DDNS" ecosystem.

The Problem

You know the drill. You sign up for a free hostname. 29 days later, you get an email:"Click this link or lose your hostname." It's an artificial annoyance designed to upsell you.

Other services are riddled with ads, have sketchy privacy policies, or sell your data. Self-hosting DDNS is an option, but then you need an external VPS to act as the anchor anyway.

The Solution

We wanted a tool that felt like it belonged in our stack. Terminal-friendly. API-first. Dark mode by default.

We added Heartbeat Monitoring because checking if a port is open isn't enough. We added Encrypted Storage because we always lose our `.env` files when nuking servers.
